Writer, Critic, Commentator
My work has been published in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, The Providence Journal, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, and elsewhere. I have been a longtime contributor to the book sections of the Christian Science Monitor and most recently USA Today, and I write articles periodically for the Hartford Courant and Estuary Magazine.
I am the former editor and publisher of two weekly newspapers, The Gazette and The Compass. My columns tend toward satire and personal trauma, like the time my wife and I got skunked, like a couple of hound dogs.
